Program Contents

The course is divided into 6 accessible, interactive modules and also includes an assessment at the end:

  • Introduction to Fire Warden Training – why fire safety is important, fire safety law, how is the law enforced, employer duties, fire warden duties, how many fire wardens do businesses need, and how to prepare for your role.
  • Understanding Fire – the fire triangle, fire classes, and fire extinguishers.
  • Fire Risk Assessment – what is a risk assessment, identify the hazards, determine who might be harmed and how, decide what precautions you need, record your findings and implement controls, review and update your assessment, and daily and weekly assessments.
  • Fire Safety Arrangements – the fire plan, fire safety arrangements, housekeeping, fire detection and warning systems, emergency routes and exits, fire safety signs, and emergency lighting.
  • Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans – who may need a PEEP, how to prepare a PEEP, and what should a PEEP include.
  • Fire Evacuation Procedures – evacuation strategies, your role during evacuations, and fire drills.
